Head of the Laboratory for Electrocatalysis at the National Institute of Chemistry, Ljubljana, Slovenia

Prof. Dr. Nejc Hodnik is Head of the Laboratory for Electrocatalysis at the National Institute of Chemistry in Ljubljana, Slovenia, and Full Professor at the University of Nova Gorica. He is also affiliated with Institute of Metals and Technology in Ljubljana.
His research focuses on electrocatalysis, electrochemical energy conversion, and catalyst stability, with emphasis on advanced electrochemical characterization, identical-location electron microscopy, and degradation mechanisms in fuel-cell and electrolyzer materials.
He leads more than 30 researchers and has coordinated several national, European, industrial, and NATO-funded projects, including ERC Starting Grant 123STABLE and ERC Proof of Concept StableCat. His work bridges fundamental materials science, sustainable hydrogen technologies, and industrially relevant electrocatalyst development.
